Okay, men, this is a post for women, but feel free to read it and discover what kind of woman you want.
This is not to say that we are weak and cannot stand up for ourselves and others. Nor does it mean that we can’t be popular with those around us or even have fame and fortune. This is simply giving us a great basis for what a WOMAN OF GOD should be like.
One of my favorite public speakers and leaders in Christianity, Dr. Russell M. Nelson, has said that we need women of VIRTUE, LIGHT, LOVE, KNOWLEDGE, COURAGE, CHARACTER, FAITH, and RIGHTEOUS LIVING.
He says that men “need our STRENGTH, CONVERSION, CONVICTION, ABILITY to LEAD, WISDOM, and our VOICES. The world needs women who are ORGANIZED and can organize. Women with EXECUTIVE ABILITY who can PLAN and DIRECT and ADMINISTER; women who can TEACH, women who can SPEAK OUT” for what is right.
“We need women with the GIFT OF DISCERNMENT who can VIEW THE TRENDS IN THE WORLD AND DETECT THOSE THAT, HOWEVER POPULAR, ARE SHALLOW OR DANGEROUS.
“We need women who know how to MAKE IMPORTANT THINGS HAPPEN BY THEIR FAITH and who are COURAGEOUS DEFENDERS OF MORALITY AND FAMILIES… DEVOTED TO SHEPHERDING GOD’S CHILDREN.”
Dr. Nelson was a pioneer in the field of open-heart surgery. He had operated on three children with congenital heart disease who belonged to one family in the sixties, all three children dying. “This third heartbreaking loss in one family literally undid me,” he said.
“I went home grief stricken. I threw myself upon our living room floor and cried all night long.” His wife stayed by his side, listening as he declared he would never perform another heart operation. Then, around five o’clock in the morning, his wife looked lovingly at him and asked, “Are you finished crying? Then get dressed. Go back to the lab. Go to work! You need to learn more. If you quit now, others will have to painfully learn what you already know.”
“Oh, how I needed my wife’s vision, grit, and love! I went back to work and learned more. If it weren’t for [my wife’s] INSPIRED PRODDING, I would not have pursued open-heart surgery” and then gone on to save many lives since then. Including the president of the Mormon church in 1972.
Dr. Nelson asks, “Sisters, do you realize the breadth and scope of your influence when you speak those things that come to your heart and mind as directed by the [Holy] Spirit [of God]?
“Sisters, whatever…your circumstances, we need your IMPRESSIONS, your INSIGHTS, and your INSPIRATION. We need you to SPEAK UP and SPEAK OUT.”
Ladies, these qualities are important ones for each of us to seek to obtain. In life, business, home and family, whatever we are doing, we need to STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT for what is GOOD and TRUE.
If you have these qualities or want these qualities, I want to work with you!
